Neurotransmitters responsible from hypoxic depressionGülderen ŞAHİN1İstanbul Üniversitesi Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi, Fizyoloji Anabilim Dalı, İstanbul
Many neurotransmitters and neuromodulators are involved in respiratory rhythm and pattern generation during normoxia and hypoxia. The release or local accumulation of inhibitory neurotransmitters (GABA) and/or neuromodulators, such as adenosine, dopamine, serotonin and opioids may be responsible for the hypoxic depression during sustained hypoxia. Keywords: adenosine, dopamine, hypoxic depression, seratonine
